Tutee: Soojin
Today was my first day with my new tutee. After speaking with Professor Kim, Diana and I decided that it would be best if we switched tutees because she plans on teaching younger children and beginners, while I would prefer to teach more advanced speakers.Before meeting, I asked Soojin what she would like to work on in our tutoring sessions, and she said that she would like to work on improving her speaking skills. Because Soojin is a more advanced speaker, I decided that it would be helpful to find interesting articles and videos about different topics and her and I could discuss what we think about the videos. I then would be able to help her learn new vocabulary to be able to have more complex conversations. For this tutoring session, we began by introducing ourselves and talking about different things such as where we're from, our interests, what we study in school, and her goals for our tutoring sessions. We finished the session by watching a short video on the confederate flag debate and discussing it.
