I
began the lesson with vocab review by asking Je-won what he ate and drank
today, what the weather was like, and what day of the week it was. From this, I
learned that it is rainy season in Korea.
I am
starting to introduce the parts of a house to Je-won. For today’s lesson, I
taught bedroom and bathroom vocabulary. I provided pictures of all the vocab
and asked him about the colors of the pictures as well. He repeated the vocab
and I corrected any pronunciation that was necessary. Because he is in his room
at the time of our sessions, I ask him to say what furniture he has and their
colors. I told him to use the phrase “I have...” So, he would say “I have a
brown desk.” Or “I have a blue chair.” Since some of the vocab pictures looked
similar, I took extra time to explain the differences between dresser and
closet, and blanket and rug. I did the same process for the bathroom vocab.
To
end the lesson, we reviewed the alphabet so I could introduce him to the
question, “What are words that start with…” He had difficulty understanding
what I was asking, so I continued to repeat and model responses. Eventually, he
was able to give a couple answers on his own!
