Tutee: Soojin
At the beginning of the session, Soojin asked if we could start working on phrasal verbs. After reviewing what phrasal verbs are, I found a list of them online and we just went through the list while I explained the meaning. We went over phrasal verbs such as "broke out," "hold off," etc. One that was interesting was the phrase "The fire alarm went off." Soojin was confused about the meaning because in this context, "went off" means that the fire alarm actually turned on. This led to us discussing how many English phrasal verbs really depend on the context of the whole sentence. We decided to continue working on phrasal verbs in the next session.
