Today
our lesson was on more food/drink vocab and a review of weather, which Je-won
had previously learned with Signe. I had him repeat some fruit and vegetable
vocab and asked him to state whether he liked each one using the “I like/I
don’t like” phrase we learned in our first session. We repeated this process
with the drink vocab. I then introduced the adjectives hot and cold. We played
a game where I showed him a gif of, for example, a steaming pizza or icy soda
bottle and he would have to say what it was and if it was hot or cold. After
this I went over how to read double and triple numbers up to 200. Je-won did
incredible with this and found it easy. Once we got the numbers down, I showed
him an image I created with shelves stocked with photos of food we have
covered, each with a price tag. I asked him “How much is this?” and he
responded with the price in dollars. With this activity, Je-won answered very
rapidly, confidently, and accurately. Finally, I wrapped up this session with a
quick review of the weather and I asked him how the weather was in Korea today. I also replied with what the weather was like here in Florida.
