Talal's aunt Nora joined us for our 10PM-11PM session. Talal informed me in our prior meeting that Nora was going to be taking the IELTS exam and needed help with the speaking portion. He asked if she could join in on our next session for practice and I happily obliged. Upon meeting Nora, I quickly realized how much she struggled to speak in English as she didn't respond to many of my questions. Talal informed me that she does great on all other portions of the exam but gets really insecure about speaking. So, throughout the session, I tried to reassure her and give her some methods for practicing. During our session, we completed a practice IELTS speaking exam. Both of them would alternate between playing the student and I would play the examiner. They would alternate between sections with Talal going first so he could model it for Nora. However, after the second part, it became clear that it was too difficult for Nora so Talal and I continued to simply model for her. Once we were done practicing, I gave them some links I found with practice exams. All in all, I think it was a productive session. Talal was able to get some good speaking practice in and Nora was able to see how the speaking portion should go firsthand.
