Tutee: Soojin
For this session, we continued working on idioms and phrasal verbs. We watched a YouTube video on phrasal verbs and idioms and I typed them out. We once again went through the list while I explained the meaning of them and used them in context. I typed them out on a word document and emailed it to her after the session. Some of the idioms that we went over were "last straw," "going bananas," and "piece of cake." It was interesting explaining the phrase "going bananas," to Soojin because in order to understand that, you need to also know that English speakers tend to compare people who are acting crazy to monkeys. This was another good example, as I explained to Soojin, of phrases that you need pay attention to context with. We decided to continue on with these topics in the next session.
