I met with Ahmed over Zoom again and asked how his visa request was coming through to complete his master’s in the US. He said that his visa request was processed but the Ministry of Education is looking into sending Saudi students to “hotspots” in the US so he has to wait for their decision before he can leave. He hopes he can leave soon to prepare to start his master’s and I told him to let me know when he finds out! The rest of our meeting was him inquiring more things Daytona and Central Florida. We discussed sports teams near the area and fun places to visit outside of Daytona. He also asked about the Arab community and Arab supermarkets in Daytona and I was able to tell him about local Arab shops that he can go to when he arrives.
