Je-won - 12 years old
This was my first tutoring session with Je-won. He is 12 years old and we met at 8am my time. I was a little bit nervous going into the session because his mother said that he had never learned English before. Because of this, I prepared really thoroughly and my lesson plan consisted of very basic, beginner vocabulary. I planned on teaching him the alphabet, numbers, and colors during this tutoring session. When we met on Zoom, it was a little bit awkward because he didn't know/understand what I was saying at first. However, I realized when I began to go over the alphabet that Je-won knew a lot more than I thought he would! This made me panic a bit because my whole lesson was planned around him not knowing these things. However, I continued as planned with the lesson so I could see more specifically what he did and didn't know. I had some PowerPoints downloaded where I could show pictures along with the words in English. I said them out loud and Je-won would repeat them. We continued with this for about an hour and then ended the session.
