Margot TS #7

Our grammar lesson for this meeting focused on prepositions. We only covered prepositions of direction and place for this lesson.  We started by covering a word bank I had created and going over which of the words Alice already knew. We discussed how prepositions are another "job" a word can have. We added prepositions to our list of jobs we know a word can have (joining verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs).
For our activity, I had a drawing program open with a picture of a cat and a table. I wrote out the sentence "The cat is ____ the table." I then moved the picture of the cat around the picture of the table and asked Alice to fill in the blank with the correct word (the cat is ON the table, the cat is BY the table, etc). For added practice, I asked Alice follow up questions like "How did the cat get on the table? Why is the cat under the table?".
We ended up talking about determiners for a little while because Alice had some trouble with A vs The when answering the questions I asked. She seems to have a better grasp on them now.
