Giovanna TS #12
For my August 3rd, 5PM-6PM, session with Talal, I decided to do a reading activity with him because we had never done one in our tutoring sessions prior. I had Talal read two short passages aloud and then sequence certain events from each passage in the correct order. I made sure to correct his pronunciation throughout and work on unfamiliar vocabulary. Talal did fairly well with sequencing. However, I found many pronunciation struggles. He particularly struggles with -ed words so I talked to him a little about that and I gave him a brief lesson on formal titles (Mr., Ms., Mrs., etc.) because he frequently uses Mr. instead of Ms. when referring to women. We ended our session with a brief discussion on informal conversation because Talal told me that for our next session he would like us to practice conversation so he could be prepared for his upcoming trip to the Smokey Mountains. All in all, it was a productive session and I look forward to helping Talal with informal conversation on Wednesday!
