Giovanna CP #6

For my final conversation partner meeting with Abdulaziz (from 4PM-5PM on August 5), we talked about many different things. As always, we talked a little bit about how we keep busy during quarantine. Now that CIES summer classes are over, Abdulaziz keeps himself busy by playing Yugiyoh cards. We talked a little about gaming, game shows, and the types of game shows that are popular in our respective countries. I explained what a trivia game show was to Abdulaziz and once he understood the concept, he said those shows are really popular in Saudi Arabia too. In one game show, if a person gets a question wrong, the ground retracts and they fall into a hole! The conversation somehow shifted to a discussion of food and how different cultures eat different parts of animals, and different animals in general that many perceive as strange. It appears that Saudis and Americans have similar perceptions about the kinds of animals that are acceptable to eat. We also talked about how difficult learning English is and my realization that it is such a difficult language to learn. Overall, it was a great last session; I have truly enjoyed my meetings with Abdulaziz!
