Marcia and I had our last conservation today. We talked a lot about our own experiences with rain in Florida as I was trapped in my car due to some storming. I told her about heat lightning which she had never heard of. I explained that here in Florida sometimes heat lightning strikes a lot brighter and leaves behind a hot spot. Marcia and I also talked about going to the movies as well and that led to a discussion about the differences in culture in Brazil and America. We talked about the difference in holding the door and what is considered polite. Marica expressed that many people are able to get student discounts all over and you only have to present a student ID. I was surprised because a few places offer this discount and you have to ask as it is not readily available. We finished our talk by discussing the opportunity to be conversation partners next semester.
