Alice and I had a reading lesson today. During our first session, Alice told me that she would like to be an artist when she grows up, so we read a passage about being an artist. Our prereading activity mostly focused on vocabulary words related to art. These words included paintbrush, studio, gallery, sculpture, tools, and imagination. We talked about the types of art that Alice likes to do as well. Alice read through the passage and we highlighted our new vocabulary words when we saw them. We stopped at the end of each paragraph to talk about what happened. For comprehension questions, I asked Alice if the character in the story does the same types of art she does, why art is an important job, and what are the characters reasons for making art.
