Margot TS #1

For our first tutoring session, Alice and I worked through some diagnostic questions and played a few games to establish her proficiency level in English. It quickly became apparent that Alice has a great grasp of the English language for her age and time spent in the USA.
My original plan had been to work through a grammar, vocabulary, and reading worksheet with her to see where she could use help. However, when we were talking about her favorite ways to study English, Alice became very excited talking about a game she has on her iPad about spelling. We spent 20 minutes working through three games that covered spelling, parts of speech, and sentence structure. It seems like Alice has the most difficulty with grammar.
The last part of our tutoring session Alice showed me a comic she is writing. I read it aloud for her and made some implicit corrections in the grammar. As homework, I had Alice write another chapter of her comic using at least four sentences for us to go over.
