Mageda CO #3
On June 29th, I observed Mr. Ryan's Speaking class in the 3A level. It was a small class of 3 students and Mr. Ryan went over the timed speaking assignment that students had to submit last week. I think an assignment like this is a way of evaluation that challenges students and I found it an effective way to gauge fluency and as well as be an efficient grammar-in-use exercise. Mr. Ryan then spent the rest of class going over the guidelines for a project they have due next week where he provided his own example and went through a fill in the blank worksheet afterwards. He checked for questions often and his instructions and expectations were so clear there were rarely questions, but towards the end of the class Mr. Ryan was giving dates for portions of the project due and the students' felt comfortable enough to ask questions. I really liked Mr. Ryan's teaching methods because he always engaged students and seemed like he tried to tailor assignments to their interests.
