Giovanna TS #5

For my July 9 3PM-4PM tutoring session with Talal, we did both a speaking and writing activity. I started the session by showing Talal two clips about Fourth of July from two popular American movies: The Sandlot and Grown-ups. After each clip, I asked Talal to describe what happened in each scene (what people did, what was going on, people's reactions, etc.). My goal for the activity was to give Talal some practice in describing different situations/scenes using details because the writing activity that followed involved Talal writing about what he did over Fourth of July weekend. I asked Talal to write at least 10 sentences detailing what he did over Fourth of July and how he felt about it. We will go over/revise what he wrote during our Monday session. I felt this session was good in building Talal's schema on Fourth of July and giving him some familiarity with what was expected of him during the writing activity. Today's session also gave Talal the opportunity to work on his listening, speaking, and writing skills which is a plus!
