Observation class #3:
On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, I observed Dr. Pollock’s 9:00 A.M.
– 9:50 A.M. composition course. One thing I enjoyed with Dr. Pollock is that he
spends a few minutes going over the projected schedule for the class that day
and even dips in to discuss the following day’s agenda. All the TEFL professors
do this, of course, but its still refreshing to see with a composition course. For
this session, we were able to go to a website called ‘typing.com’: this website
was fun. The website gave you a generated list of different words – all starting
with the same letter – and what we were supposed to do was type the words out
as quickly and accurately as possible. I enjoyed this lesson because I was able
to type the words out quickly, but not without a couple mistakes. When writing
normally, I do so on Word and so whenever there is a mistake in the text, I know
that Word will catch it. When I made a mistake in the lesson, I had to catch it
myself. It was quite fun. After this, the class discussed an article summary report
that was due.
