Mageda TS #3

On July 3rd, Dave and I had our third meeting and he immediately had his print out ready to start writing. He is such a good student who is always excited to learn! I gave him 10-15 minutes to write and tried to give him some encouragement that this doesn't have to be perfect in order to lower his affective filter. After 15 minutes, Dave sent me a picture of his writing and I told him if he'd like to go over it next week when we meet that that works with me (trying out the revision tips from the textbook, he can look at it with fresh eyes on Wednesday). He also immediately pointed out a part of the writing he thought he could improve and I said good job acknowledging that that's a weak spot for you. We spent the rest of our session discussing the Fourth of July, and I had a 5 minute video I had found for him but he said his teacher at school had shown his class the exact same one last month! So he told me all the facts he still remembered about the colonies that became the United States after singing the Declaration of Independence in 1776. I try to always give him affirmations because he deserves them with how intelligent he is, but also to form a bond between us right now so he won't feel nervous in the future showing me his work.
