For my July 1st, 3:00PM-4:00PM, session with Talal, I decided to start off the session with some countable/uncountable nouns practice. I realized in our Monday session that Talal often struggles to differentiate between these types of nouns and to use countable nouns in their plural form when applicable. So, we categorized a group of words as countable or uncountable and then I asked Talal to use each word in a sentence. There were a couple of new vocabulary words in this activity so I defined them as well and used them in a sentence. By the end of the activity, I could tell he felt much more comfortable with these nouns. For the second part of our lesson, we worked on composition, specifically paragraph correction. We analyzed two paragraphs and Talal corrected the grammar mistakes. He did a fantastic job with this! 

I found throughout our session that Talal responds really well to encouragement and praise for a job well done. I also found that he struggles with speaking when he feels under pressure and struggles with pronunciation to the point of incomprehensibility. For our next session, I will try to strike a balance between correcting pronunciation and not, and I will try to increase his comfort level when speaking.
