Today I scheduled a zoom meeting with my new Tutee, Renata Moreira Lopes, to get to know one another. Throughout this session we discussed our common interests, where we are from, and expectations throughout our Tutoring zoom calls. I learned that Renata is originally from Brazil and came to the United States on December of 2018. She has been practicing English at Florida State for about a year and a half, and is already on the last English learning level! She is incredibly smart and has mastered English very well, and at an incredible speed. She is Learning English to have more opportunity in the workplace as she aspires to go to law school at FSU when she is done. We both agreed we learn best when writing things down. She enjoys learning grammar and pronunciation in English, and hopes to continue building connections with individuals not only at Florida State, but around the globe. On her spare time Renata enjoys learning German and likes to read books. She is currently reading the book called "Becoming" by Michelle Obama. She resides in Miami Florida and remains in contact with her family who lives in Brazil. She practices her English speaking skills while talking to her family and friends back home. She has enjoyed her experience at Florida State and is grateful for her conversation partners, professors, and tutors that have helped her with her English Speaking skills. Our next tutoring session will be on Monday morning, where we will go over some pronunciation. I am excited in continuing to get to know Renata and being apart of her successful journey in furthering her English!
