Stefanny CO #1

Date/Time: 06/22 @ 2:00pm

Topic/Skill:Listening

Teacher Presentation: Olivia James had the students watch previous videos about Alex Honnold, a free soloing mountain climber and then break out into groups to discuss the video.

Classroom Management: The instructor began the class by talking bout how their day had been, presented me to the class and had students participate in the conversation. Afterwards the instructed asked the class if they had watched the video and informed them about the assignment they would be partaking in. The students were broken up into groups of 3 to answer question set up by the instructor regarding the videos where afterwards one group member would present a summary about their thoughts.

Materials: Computer Device for: Youtube, ZOOM, Alex Hannold videos, & GoogleDocs.

Student Participation: I was broken to observe one of the groups. they did not speak much to each other other than answer questions on their own. One student however did directly participate with me and engage in conversation.

Feedback Provided: Not all groups were able to present their thoughts about the videos, only one. Some groups needed more time. Any questions the students had were answered by the instructor towards the end of class regarding writing grammar.

Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I learned that most of the time you may need to just present the students with the activity and allow them to do it on their own. Check in moderately so they do not depend on you too much to form sentences and then correct when they ask questions.
